From the Humane Society of Blue Ridge:
“Tears of joy!!! That is what everyone at the shelter has been experiencing today! You see, Tux, our senior and also longest resident, has been adopted! Tux’ journey with us has been quite a special one! When he arrived, he weighed 74 pounds!! He had already lost 10 pounds in a former shelter. Well… Tuxie went to hydrotherapy at Nottely Oaks and lost weight. He became the trim and active dog that we all know and love today. He was all set- healthy and happy and ready for a home! Everyone he met absolutely loved him, but still he was constantly overlooked because of his age. The poor baby spent 1 year and 4 months making friends and watching them get adopted while he waited. Each visitor was the same for him. Not today! Today was unexpected! His visitor came and met him and said that she needed him and that he needed her, and tonight they are together! Tux has finally gone home!! We will miss you, sweet gentleman, and we are all in tears– but those tears are happy tears because we all love you and know you’ll finally be truly happy with your very own companion.
Congratulations, sweet little Gentleman!”
