1956, the 84th Congress passed a joint resolution “declaring IN GOD WE TRUST the national motto of the United States.”

1936, Buddy Guy, the American blues musician, and guitarist, was born in Lettsworth, LA. Guy was noted for his slashing electric guitar riffs and passionate vocals.

August 3rd:
1958, the U.S. nuclear submarine Nautilus accomplishes the first undersea voyage to the geographic North Pole. The world’s first nuclear submarine, the Nautilus dived at Point Barrow, Alaska, and traveled nearly 1,000 miles under the Arctic ice cap to reach the top of the world. August 4th:
