Next Citizens’ Law Enforcement Academy will begin Aug. 3

LUMPKIN COUNTY, Ga. — If you are considering a career in law enforcement or would like to understand how a sheriff’s office operates, consider attending the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office Citizens’ Law Enforcement Academy (CLEA).

The next session begins Aug. 3 and continues through Oct. 5. Registration deadline is July 24.Classes are scheduled every Monday starting at 6 p.m. and ending no later than 9 p.m. Register online or call Rhonda Sheppard at 706-482-2628.

Organizational structure, missions and tour

Sheriff’s operatonal briefing

Criminal law and use of force

Domestic violence and child abuse

Narcotics and K9 operations

Traffic accident investigation

Defensive tactics

SWAT/SRT operations

Professional standards, internal affairs and public information

Crime scene investigations

White collar crimesL

Digital voice stress analysis and polygraphs

Sexual assault and child molestation

Adult firearms safety course

Operational ride/work along with jail, patrol, courts and 911
