Meet Derek, a 16 lb. min-pin mix, with a playful attitude and the smile to go with it! .  Derek came from animal control with an unknown past.  He is now up to date on vaccinations, neutered and chipped.  The sad news is that Derek tested positive for heartworm disease; meaning he was not getting preventatives when he was bit by an infected mosquito.  Derek is starting his HW treatment and really needs a quiet environment where he can rest his heart rate in order to kill the heartworms.  His living conditions right now are not ideal.  There’s always commotion from the other pups that he’s surrounded with.  If you know anything about min-pins; they are hyperactive little dogs to begin with.  

If adoption is out of the question for you right now, we would love for you to consider fostering him until he gets through his treatment or a forever home is found.
