A Message from Gilmer County Sheriff’s Department about the Georgia Apple Festival 2021

Announcements, Community

Message from the BIG MAN himself………and other important agency members.
Remember Citizens of Gilmer County, this weekend is Apple Festival. I’m asking for your patience with our visitors, especially when you are driving. I get just as frustrated as you when someone cuts you off, or is clearly lost and is holding up already bad traffic. Remember, they are our guests and aren’t familiar with our roads. There will be some confusion. We have all been to an unfamiliar town for work or vacation or whatever and got lost. We didn’t want to cause problems for other people, but we all have. We are all human and not perfect. Be patient.

Tips from deputies and dispatchers for the locals:

  • Be Patient.
  • Avoid HWY 52 East, Downtown, and the Park. Use Y’all’s extensive knowledge of the backroads.

Tips for our visitors:

  • Hydrate…..We know it’s fall and you wanna wear flannel to take those photos of our beautiful county. However, It’s a Georgia Fall. So it’s cool in the morning and Summer by 2.
  • Check the weather and carry an umbrella. Two times a year it’s guaranteed to rain……, the fair and Apple Festival.

Tips for everybody:

  • Be patient with your restaurant staff and retail workers. They are already short-staffed and overworked under normal conditions. This weekend will be worse with all the extra people.
