Meet Peridot, an undiscovered gem until now! We met Peridot in February,when she was brought to our attention by her neighbors who witnessed her neglect as she fended for herself living outside. The concerned couple brought her to HBPR. Peridot was starving for food and attention. Her backbone and ribs were visible as she laid on our floor eating her first nutritious meal in a very long time. She should have weighed 60 lbs but she weighed close to 40. Then someone saw a movement in her side as she laid on the floor. Peridot was rushed to the vet who confirmed that she was pregnant with 9 puppies. A foster was quickly found and Peridot was transported to a place of warmth and comfort. It was hours later that she gave birth to 9 healthy babies.
It was a miracle; no doubt! How could they be healthy with very little nutrition provided to their mother? Today, the babies are almost 9 weeks old and everyone is ready for adoption. The available puppies are featured on our website and FB along with their loving, grateful Mom, Peridot, a 60 lb, American Bulldog mix.
