Coco is not just another pretty face. She also is a fabulous fetch and retrieve sort of girl! Believe it or not, she was left behind in the house when her family moved out. The current owners found her when they were moving in. Unfortunately, they could not keep her. She is house trained, knows some commands and will be completely vetted on 12/6.
Coco is available for immediate adoption and is also available for a foster home in the Gilmer/Fannin Co. area. Information and application available on hbpr.org.

If smiling dogs get to you; then you might want to meet Twizler, a stout black and tan who enjoys running, fetching and getting snuggles. This sweet girl is house trained; walks great on a leash and has played with other dogs at the shelter.

Do you have a place in your heart for Sparkley, the huggy hound? This gorgeous 18 month old, 35# gentle heart was rescued from a horrendous predicament along with numerous other dogs. How she maintains her loving personality and eagerness to trust is beyond imagination. Just goes to prove that dogs “live in the moment”. Sparkley doesn’t hold a grudge; only love.

Meet Gordy, a 6# chi who was born in July, 2021. He was surrendered along with 2 other chi’s who were living outside. Gordy is a loving little boy, very active and playful. He is getting along well with the fosters’ 2 male dogs. Because of his size and age, we would not recommend little children. Gordy is in a foster home where he is being house trained. He loves to take leash walks and snuggling in a blanket.

Homeward Bound Pet of the Week: Micah

Meet Micah, an 8 month old, 20 lb. lab/flat coat mix. Micah has had a tough life in such a short time. He’s recently been rescued from a hoarding situation with 25+ dogs. He has had limited experience with the human touch until he got to Homeward Bound. We are socializing him with the volunteers and other dogs. He is learning to trust. Micah has never been house trained and we are working on that but it takes consistency that only a home where someone can supervise regularly. He’s catching on and connecting the dots about what to do when he’s out walking. He’s an eager student and am sure he’ll do well.

Homeward Bound Pet Of The Week! Powder

Meet Powder, a Pomeranian mix (we think Spitz). This little Powder Puff has never met a stranger; has lots of puppy energy; loves everyone….dogs, cats, kids and their parents. Once she gets to know you, she will have lots of puppy kisses for you.
Powder is almost 18 months old; needs to lose a few more lbs. and is doing well with her diet and exercise regimen. Powder is with a foster Mom who takes her on a hike every day!

Homeward Bound Pet Of The Week: Cheeky and Carlie.

Meet Mom, Cheeky, the beautiful 7-year-old fawn-colored chi who weighs 8 lbs, and her daughter, Carlie, a 3-year-old rat/chi who weighs 12lbs.
These girls were an owner surrender at animal control due to the owner no longer able to care for them. They are sweet little girls who love human attention, seem to be house trained, and enjoy walking on a leash.

Play ball……anyone? Someone? Tobias, Mr. Black Velvet himself, is a ball chasing, fetching, zoomies kind of guy. It doesn’t matter the size or color of the ball. It’s all a game for this almost 2 year old lab mix. He also has a gentle snuggly side and loves to go walking on a leash. Tobias is friendly to other dogs he knows. As with any dog, a meet and greet with your pet(s) would be necessary to determine compatibility.

Homeward Bound Pet of the Week: Ivory

Meet Ivory, a 2-year-old, 30 lb. terrier mix who came to us as a shy puppy who didn’t want to come out to play. It took a few weeks for her to trust people again. Today, she is a fun-loving girl who can’t get enough. She loves to walk on a leash and especially enjoys running and playing in the fenced area on the property.

Meet Tater, a 2 ½ year old, 40 lb. blend of sweetness and cuteness. He was adopted about a year ago and was just returned due to a change in family circumstances. Tater is a bit confused as to why he no longer has a family but is just as calm and sweet as ever. He loves attention, bonds quickly, walks great on a leash, house trained…..everything you would want in a dog.

If you are looking for someone to bring sunshine into your daily life, look no further than our girl, Ladybug, a 7 year old doxie blend. She has a delightful personality, loves to snuggle and is always up for a good leash walk. She came from a home with numerous dogs and got along fine. For being such a short stack, she insists on being in charge.

Homeward Bound Pet Of The Week: Huddy!

This 13 lb. chi/pug blend, Huddy, was turned into animal control from
a backyard breeder.

He is slow to warm up but once he does, he is a “velcro pup” and
becomes very loving. He prefers the company of women and is fearful of men.
Huddy has issues like resource guarding and a bit of a quirky personality. We are
asking that only experienced adopters apply and that Huddy be an only pet.

This smile is genuine! Meet Cheyenne, a 7 year old terrier mix, who is a little Miss Snugglebug. She is currently on a weight management and regular exercise program. Cheyenne was one of 7 dogs who were surrendered to animal control after their parents passed away. Cheyenne now loves to walk on a leash and wants to keep going. She is also getting used to a healthy dog food; not just canned and treats. Cheyenne is now completely vetted; dental and all!

Want a fun boy to share your life with? Look no further! We have Tobias who is about 1- 1 ½ years old; and 42# of goofy silliness! Life is a game for him; usually a squeak toy or a ball. He loves to chase a ball! It’s the returning it to you that eludes him. He is learning to walk on a leash and shows friendliness towards most other dogs. His new family will have to give him the time, love and patience to get him trained and he will be an awesome buddy. Cats are a no-go.
