Meet Derek, a little guy who was pulled from animal control after waiting for his family who never showed up to claim him. This sweetie is heartworm positive and has already started his treatment and HBPR is committing to cover the treatment costs. Derek needs a calm atmosphere to get through this treatment for the next few months. His current exercise regimen consists of slow, easy walks; nothing to get his heart rate too high. This is difficult due to the fact that he is a min-pin mix (naturally high energy) and his age, which is thought to be 1-2 years. After his treatment, he will be good to go for as much exercise as he wants.
