October 5th every year is National Be Nice Day, the designated day to remind us all how important it is to make others smile.
While the national holiday falls on one day each year, it’s important we remember, especially in today’s world, that kindness is free and easily accomplished.
Here are a few ways you can show kindness every single day.
Always say “please” and “thank you” when interacting with others, especially customer service. You usually catch more flies with honey than you do vinegar anyways. A little kindness goes a long way, and you’ll make someone feel better when you’re nice to them.
Being neighborly is more than just living next to someone. You could offer to:
Bring in their groceries
Run an errand for them
Take them to an appointment
Watch their children for free
Bring them dinner
You could volunteer at:
A soup kitchen
Animal Shelter
School Program
Church Activity
No matter where you are, you’re bound to run into another person throughout your day. Take this small interaction as the opportunity to compliment someone kindly. This will surely make them feel better.
With staffing so low in the restaurant industry, servers and staff are working harder than ever to keep up with the influx of customers into their restaurants on a daily basis. Tips are usually representative of the kind of service a customer gets, but undoubtedly customer service may suffer a little since the start of the pandemic.
Lighten up, show more patience, and extend your kindness in the form of an extra big tip.
