The English term tribulation comes from a Latin word meaning “to press or squeeze.” Being under pressure can squeeze the life out of a person, unless they have new life in Christ. Tribulation is defined as a state of great trouble or suffering. Jesus warned his followers, “In this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome this world.” John 16:33.
