A late breaking news flash reveals that the Governor has been caught in a scandalous affair, and thus he has unceremoniously resigned from office, and taken half his staff with him. The order of succession is clear, the Governor’s Executive Assistant, Ned Newley, now fills the highest Office in the State. There’s just one problem; Ned doesn’t even want to be governor. He’s terrified of public speaking, dreadful on television, and his poll numbers are impressively bad. To his normally ever-supportive Chief of Staff Dave, Ned seems destined to fail. But the renowned political consultant Arthur Vance sees things differently: Ned might just be the worst candidate to ever run for office. Therefore, he’ll never win — unless the public is looking for… the worst candidate to ever run for office. Now Ned and his new staff are in a mad dash to turn this mumbling pencil pusher into a figure of respect and competency. A timely and hilarious comedy that skewers politics and celebrates democracy.

If Ned has any hope at all of being accepted as Governor, Arthur Vance will need to use all of his political expertise to frame Ned as “the Outsider” with all the right ideas.

Rachel Parsons is more than just your average television reporter, she’s also a longtime political correspondent who is excited to FINALLY be interviewing the Governor in his Office.

Paige Caldwell was the first person Dave Hired onto Ned’s Staff, which she would be a lot more excited about… if the staff was more than 3 people!

Louise Peakes may not be the sharpest Temp in the Agency, but what she lacks in knowledge about Government, etiquette, and phones, she more than makes up for in moxy and charisma!

In celebration of Blue Ridge Community Theater’s 20 years of live theater, we are proud to announce the upcoming screenings of Edgar Lee Master’s Spoon River Anthology. This ambitious film project collected 40 actors & actresses across the two decades of our theater’s history, so this is, at least in part, a dedication to the many talented men and women who worked in tandem to forge BRCT into the exceptional theater that it is today.

Spoon River Anthology is the story of the fictitious town of Spoon River, IL, and is told exclusively by the specters of it’s deceased citizens. These spirits, finding some solace in sharing the secrets that outlived them, speak of their accomplishments, their regrets, as well as how they met their inevitable end. What is unearthed in the process, however, are the surreptitious small town secrets that many of the denizens of Spoon River would have killed to discover whilst alive, woven together to unveil the less-than-pastoral portrait that they paint of Spoon River and it’s inhabitants.
